Internal spray application remedying winter damage

Client: North Yorkshire Council

Spec: Internal spray application to all external walls and black spot mould areas.

Materials Used: Corksol spray cork ( Natural ) thistle multi finish plaster

Problem: We assessed this house during the summer months, however it was still heavily effected by the winter damage, particular bad areas included the kitchen, cupboard under the stairs and bathroom.

Cork Spray Coatings for Thin Coat Wall Insulation

This property was effected by mould and poor insulation caused by the solid brick work make up of the walls, throughout the home. This lead to the decision tmade by the client toremove the black-spot mould damaged kitchen. This makes the install easier for us as well as having to factor in that this property was tenant occupied.

Solution: We took the decision that it was best to complete this project in stages. To start, we took the kitchen out and repaired the damp in the walls – firstly allowing it to dry out and then treating with a taking slurry. Next we plastered over the top of the tanking and then sprayed our cork on to the plaster board. We sprayed the walls and ceiling creating a bridge for any cold spots. Further streamlining the process, there’s no need to remove skirting boards, we simply removed the radiators and as long as there is enough edge to the skirting, we can leave them on and just spray the cork and plaster.

Once the cork had dried for a few days we proceeded to apply the plaster finish ready to allow the kitchen fitting and redecoration. We found that this has cured the damp issues, remediating the mould issues on the property.

As well as bringing anti-fungal protection and hypoallergenic properties, the cork applied to the property raises the temperature of the wall by 4 degrees and increasing insulation efficacy by 30%.
