Skimming, boarding and float-and-set for single rooms through to whole-house refurbishments.

Plastering and construction finishes · Leeds and West Yorkshire
Plastering, rendering, drylining and specialist finishes for homes and commercial jobs across Leeds. One directly employed team from bare block to the final coat.
Our services
Leeds still has around 19,500 back-to-backs in use and a housing stock that is mostly terraces and inter-war semis. Most of what we do is inside those: blown plaster on solid walls, lath ceilings, cold gables that want render or insulation. Every finish has its own page underthe services directory.

Skimming, boarding and float-and-set for single rooms through to whole-house refurbishments.

Sand and cement, monocouche and re-render work on brick, block and previously rendered walls.
Thin-coat through-colour systems from K Rend and Weber for a low-maintenance weatherproof face.

Timber and metal stud partitions, insulated, boarded and finished to split or reshape a room.

Marmorino, lucido and microcement finishes for feature walls, bathrooms and commercial fit-outs.

Plaster coving and cornice fitted, repaired or profile-matched to what is already in the house.

Traditional and liquid screeds laid level for tiling, underfloor heating and resin floors.

Insulation boards fixed, meshed and rendered in one package for solid-wall houses.

before any price
Someone who will actually be on the job comes to look. Walls are tapped for blown plaster, damp is metered rather than guessed, and ceilings are checked for Artex before anyone talks about a price.

before any plaster
Floors and stairs sheeted, sockets and switches taped, furniture moved to the middle and covered. Loose material comes off, boards go up, and beads are set before any plaster is mixed.

the work itself
Two-coat skim trowelled up flat, or render laid in the passes the system asks for. Corners square, reveals true, nothing rushed because the next room is waiting.

sign-off
Rooms hoovered and sheets out. You get drying times and mist-coat advice in writing, and the same person who quoted signs the job off with you.
Next step
Two minutes on the form and a surveyor calls to book the visit. Prefer to talk it through first? Call, describe the job, and we will tell you what the survey needs to look at.
The stages that decide a flat wall: stripping, boarding, bonding, skim and the mist coat. Ask to see a finished job like yours before you book.
Quick Quote OnlineAbout Invicta
Invicta Construction Finishes works across Leeds and the towns around it, from Chapel Allerton and Horsforth out to Wakefield, Bradford and Harrogate. Most of the calls are the same three problems: plaster that has come away from a solid wall, a lath ceiling that has cracked along the joists, or render on a gable that has let water in. We also take on commercial dilapidations and fit-out finishes for landlords and main contractors who need one trade to own the walls. There is more on how the company works on the about page.
There is no showroom. A surveyor comes to the property, measures it, tells you what the substrate will and will not take, and the quote lists every stage. If a wall needs stripping back to brick, that is on the sheet before the price, not discovered on the day.

Directly employed
The people on your job are on the payroll, not a subcontractor found the night before. The same faces from survey to handover.
One contractor, whole finish
Boarding, skim, render, coving, screed and insulation are all in-house, so nobody is waiting on another trade to turn up.
Preparation first
Sheeting, stripping, beading and bonding are where a flat wall is won. The skim is the last ten percent.
Written quotes, every stage
The survey finds what the wall needs and the quote lists it line by line, so nothing is discovered on the day.
Areas covered
We are a service-area business: there is no shop to visit, the team travels to you. Leeds postcodes come first, then Bradford, Wakefield, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Halifax and Harrogate, with the smaller towns between them on the same run.
If your town is on the list, the survey is the same visit and the quote is built the same way as a Leeds job. The full list, and what the Leeds housing stock asks for, is on the areas we cover.
Guides
Three working guides written for Leeds householders and landlords. The full set is in our plastering guides.

A skim on plasterboard can be ready in under a week. A floated solid wall can take a month or more. The colour of the wall tells you, and the mist coat is what stops a good skim peeling.

That hollow knock when you tap the wall is plaster that has lost its grip on the brick. In a pre-1919 Leeds house it is nearly always moisture and the wrong materials, and skimming over it lasts a winter.

Every rendering quote names a system, and most people have no way of judging one against another. Here is what each one is, what wall it suits, how it fails and what it asks of you afterwards.
Quick Quote
Room sizes, what the surface is now, and what you want it to be. A surveyor reads it before calling, so the visit is booked knowing what to bring.
