  • Ceilings boarded and walls skimmed, lounge and three bedrooms

Received a number of quotes to have the ceilings boarded and walls skimmed in our lounge and three bedrooms. Was impressed by the service on offer from Invicta and the attention to detail. The team who came were all on time, courteous and a pleasure to have in our home. They even chopped some board out and re-skimmed one of the kitchen walls to correct a problem another company had left.

  • Kitchen wall re-plastered after a leak

We had our main wall in our kitchen re-plastered after a leak. Invicta have done a great job! Looks fab and the guys were helpful and respectful from start to finish. Friendly and reliable, highly recommend.

  • Plastering an older house with cork insulation

Kenny came to survey the project and recommended some areas of a cork product to help with insulation. Dave then did a fantastic job of the plastering and keeping clean and tidy. He had a great understanding of the challenges with old houses like ours and gave good advice on drying and decorating. The painters are thrilled with the super smooth finish.

  • Kitchen and utility room re-plastered

Extremely happy with the work Invicta have done for us. They re-plastered our kitchen and utility room. Very professional from start to finish and completed all work quicker than others had quoted, to a high standard. They left the areas they plastered clean and tidy.

  • Internal plaster remedial works, Harrogate

We have used Invicta on a number of projects. Communication from inception to completion is always prompt. Most recently Invicta undertook some internal plaster remedial works on a tricky site in Harrogate with no issues and kept the tenant happy. I would recommend them for both internal plaster and external render.

  • Plastering after a mould problem was fixed

I had some plastering done following some recent mould problems which had been rectified. Invicta plastered for me and it was a great job well done. Very little mess was made, which they cleaned up after, and I was very impressed with the friendly service.

  • Cork spray insulation to a conservatory roof

Cork spray insulation on the conservatory roof. Invicta did a fantastic job, great customer service and communication. The job has completely changed the conservatory into a usable room, it is no longer a sauna when it is sunny and freezing when it is cold.

  • Cork spray to bedroom walls

They arrived on the date and time as arranged. The young man who did the work was quick and very efficient. He even dismantled the bed for me before he started, and explained in detail how the cork spray for the walls works. I would be very happy to recommend them.

  • Work at a bungalow

The gentleman that did the work at our bungalow was very polite and helpful. He even cleaned up after himself. I was very happy with him and we were very satisfied with the work he did.

Eighteen finishes for Leeds houses, from pre-1919 back-to-backs to new-build plots

Leeds still has around 19,500 back-to-backs in use and a housing stock that is mostly terraces and inter-war semis. Most of what we do is inside those: blown plaster on solid walls, lath ceilings, cold gables that want render or insulation. Every finish has its own page underthe services directory.

How a job runs, Leeds to Wakefield and everywhere between

Four stages · every job
  1. 01
Marking out a wall before boards are fixed

    Survey

    before any price

Someone who will actually be on the job comes to look. Walls are tapped for blown plaster, damp is metered rather than guessed, and ceilings are checked for Artex before anyone talks about a price.

  2. 02
Room sheeted up with walls marked ready for boarding

    Protection

    before any plaster

Floors and stairs sheeted, sockets and switches taped, furniture moved to the middle and covered. Loose material comes off, boards go up, and beads are set before any plaster is mixed.

  3. 03
Trowelling the final coat of plaster on a wall

    The finish

    the work itself

Two-coat skim trowelled up flat, or render laid in the passes the system asks for. Corners square, reveals true, nothing rushed because the next room is waiting.

  4. 04
Rolling a mist coat on to a freshly plastered ceiling

    Handover

    sign-off

Rooms hoovered and sheets out. You get drying times and mist-coat advice in writing, and the same person who quoted signs the job off with you.

Next step

Send the room size or tell us what you need, get a fixed quote back

Two minutes on the form and a surveyor calls to book the visit. Prefer to talk it through first? Call, describe the job, and we will tell you what the survey needs to look at.

About Invicta

A finishing contractor built around the awkward Leeds house

Invicta Construction Finishes works across Leeds and the towns around it, from Chapel Allerton and Horsforth out to Wakefield, Bradford and Harrogate. Most of the calls are the same three problems: plaster that has come away from a solid wall, a lath ceiling that has cracked along the joists, or render on a gable that has let water in. We also take on commercial dilapidations and fit-out finishes for landlords and main contractors who need one trade to own the walls. There is more on how the company works on the about page.

There is no showroom. A surveyor comes to the property, measures it, tells you what the substrate will and will not take, and the quote lists every stage. If a wall needs stripping back to brick, that is on the sheet before the price, not discovered on the day.

Plasterer on a step ladder finishing the top of a boarded wall
  • 01

    Directly employed

The people on your job are on the payroll, not a subcontractor found the night before. The same faces from survey to handover.

  • 02

    One contractor, whole finish

Boarding, skim, render, coving, screed and insulation are all in-house, so nobody is waiting on another trade to turn up.

  • 03

    Preparation first

Sheeting, stripping, beading and bonding are where a flat wall is won. The skim is the last ten percent.

  • 04

    Written quotes, every stage

The survey finds what the wall needs and the quote lists it line by line, so nothing is discovered on the day.

Areas covered

Leeds first, then the ring of towns within about twenty miles of the city centre

We are a service-area business: there is no shop to visit, the team travels to you. Leeds postcodes come first, then Bradford, Wakefield, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Halifax and Harrogate, with the smaller towns between them on the same run.

If your town is on the list, the survey is the same visit and the quote is built the same way as a Leeds job. The full list, and what the Leeds housing stock asks for, is on the areas we cover.
