What we are for
Invicta Construction Finishes exists for the walls, ceilings and floors that other trades leave behind. A builder opens a room up and someone has to make it flat again. A landlord takes a house back and the ceilings are cracked, the Artex is suspect and the party wall is damp. A homeowner in a pre-1919 terrace has skimmed the same wall twice and it has blown twice. Those are the calls, and the company is set up to answer them with one team rather than a chain of subcontractors.
Most of the work is in Leeds and the towns within about twenty miles of it, which are listed with a page each on the areas we cover. The housing there is mostly solid-walled terraces, inter-war semis and stone villages, and that shapes the trade: breathable materials on old walls, honest damp diagnosis before any plaster, and a preference for doing the preparation properly over doing the skim quickly. The commercial side follows the same rules on a bigger scale, for fit-out contractors, landlords and agents who need drylining, fire lines, screeds and end-of-lease reinstatement done to a programme.

Sheeting, stripping, beading, bonding and drying are where a flat wall is won. The skim is the last ten percent and it only looks good because of the ninety before it.

The survey finds what the wall needs. The quote lists it: strip, repair, coats, finish, disposal, scaffold. If it needs hacking off to brick, that is on the sheet before the price.
How we work
A survey before a price, and a price that lists every stage
No quote leaves without someone looking at the wall. The surveyor taps for hollow plaster, meters the low corners, checks ceilings for texture and sag, and goes outside to look at the render, the pointing and the gutters, because that is where most inside problems begin. The written quote then lists what will be done, in order, with the drying periods between, so that two quotes can be compared honestly and nothing is discovered on the day.
On the job, floors and furniture are sheeted before anything is mixed, rooms are hoovered at the end of each day, and the person who quoted signs the work off with you. You leave with drying times and mist-coat advice in writing. If something is not right at the snagging visit, it is put right; the reviews on this site are the record of how that usually goes.

Survey

Someone who will actually be on the job comes to look. Walls are tapped for blown plaster, damp is metered rather than guessed, and ceilings are checked for Artex before anyone talks about a price.

Floors and stairs sheeted, sockets and switches taped, furniture moved to the middle and covered. Loose material comes off, boards go up, and beads are set before any plaster is mixed.

The finish

Two-coat skim trowelled up flat, or render laid in the passes the system asks for. Corners square, reveals true, nothing rushed because the next room is waiting.
